Innoviris publishes its 2024 activity report: €44.6 million invested to advance research and innovation in Brussels

In a constantly evolving global context, where societal challenges are intensifying and opportunities for innovation are multiplying, Innoviris – the public organisation for research and innovation in the Brussels-Capital Region – has published its 2024 activity report.
​The report highlights a year of targeted investments in projects with a strong economic, social, and environmental impact, supporting the development of the Region.

A collective dynamic
​In 2024, Innoviris funded 325 projects for a total amount of €44.6 million, supporting 215 organisations active in Brussels. These beneficiaries fall into four main categories: SMEs and start-ups, large enterprises and hospitals, research institutions, and public organisations. Innoviris' actions complement European, federal, and private funding, taking into account the specific characteristics of the regional territory.

The supported projects focus on four key pillars:
​• Innovation journeys for businesses
​• The strengthening and application of academic research
​• Knowledge for policy and society
​• The promotion of science

These targeted investments help amplify the impact of projects in fields such as artificial intelligence, health, the circular economy, and social innovation (so-called innovation journeys).

A lever to transform ideas into impact
​2024 also marked the consolidation of the impact model adopted by Innoviris in 2022. This tool helps better define the intended outcomes, evaluate achieved results, and continuously adjust the programmes. Despite operating under a caretaker government, Innoviris continued to work with efficiency, transparency, and agility.

A vision for Brussels
​Innoviris has also developed a strategic memorandum for the next legislature, reaffirming its ambition to position Brussels as a leading innovation region in Europe. The document provides concrete recommendations to strengthen the medium- and long-term impact of research and innovation policies.

By investing in today's ideas, Innoviris is helping to build the Brussels of tomorrow.
